Chiavari was already an important center during the Napoleonic years (1817- 1859) and during the annexation to the kingdom Sardinia in 1815. Today it still represents an important center that connects the valleys in the interior of Chiavari. Its land is enclosed between coast and mountains far from the sea. This is the Ligurian interior. Chiavari is the place where peasant culture and good food find a center. This hilly territory is made up of rural centers with farms and country side and the charming architecture of medieval centers. These centers vary from west to east in their forms and dispositions. Some of them look like stars or a ridge or concentric rings and some are fortified. To move around in the valleys of the interior, it is easy. You can do it walking or riding a horse or driving a car. You will see views of homes that are far, castles, and churches immersed in an atmosphere beyond time. Several are the attractions for experts of hiking or tracking. One of many is the hiking highway of the Ligurian Mountains that connects Ventimiglia to Ceparana, which are the two far ends of the coasts. It is a hiking trail that is well equipped and follows the ridges of the mountains for 440 kilometers.
Besides the five links above, we think that these two other destinations require attention.
