Portofino Cinque Terre Genova and the Aquarium Sestri Levante Camogli

The golf of Tigullio
cartina del tigullio
The golf of Tigullio used to be called the Marconi Gulf in honor of the radio experiments carried out by its inventor in one of the inlets of the area. If you continue along the coast towards west you will encounter the gulf of paradise that will take you to Genova. Instead in the eastern direction, 30 minutes by train, you will find the Cinque Terre.

Two blue flags bandiera blu

In the gulf of Tigullio, Chiavari and Lavagna were awarded with a blue flag in 2010. This recognition is given by the foundation for environmental education to coastal villages where the high quality of the waters and territory match with certain standards of safety and respect of the environment. This represents a strong help for local tourism because it implies that we offer top quality services and environmental protection. Also Moneglia, a close by village behind the cape of Sestri Levante, has received this important recognition. This is the proof that the environment of our gulf is something special.

The mount of Portofino has always been considered a unique place in the Mediterranean for its beauty and sea life. This is due to the uniqueness of the geography of the place. It is like a long extension of land into the open sea that created a barrier to the sea currents crossing the Ligurian Sea. The unusual confirmation shape of the coast, with its beautiful inlets, and the unusual shape of the rocks offer 2000 different species an ideal environment to thrive. A few places in the Mediterranean Sea boast such a variety of life. To preserve this natural world, a marina reserve has been instituted. The activities carried out in this park are seriously monitored. For divers there is a possibility to admire many different ruins of war ships, cruise ships, and steam boats along the coast.
